Joe Mason (BFA, MM in Musical Theatre) came to Southeast Missouri State University after being in the Boston, Massachusetts area with North Shore Music Theatre and Walnut Hill School. Joe received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Music, Dance, and Theater from Brigham Young University and a Master of Music Degree in Musical Theater from The Boston Conservatory of Music. He has been active in the musical theater community as a performer and music director.
Joe began his professional career doing summer stock at the Jackson Hole Playhouse in Jackson Hole, Wyoming performing in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Some of his other performance credits include such shows as the following: Little Women, Annie (Southeast Missouri State University), The Secret Garden, Children of Eden, She Loves Me, Forever Plaid, Sweeney Todd, Candide, Rags (The Boston Conservatory), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Tuacahn Amphitheatre, starring David Osmond), Annie Get Your Gun (Tuacahn Amphitheatre), and Oliver! (Robert Redford’s Sundance, starring Christopher Lloyd). He has also performed as a featured soloist with the Boston Pops’ Holiday Concert at Boston’s Symphony Hall and as the Cruise Director in the Rockin’ the Boat Show at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia.
As an accompanist, Joe has played the piano for organizations such as Disney Theatricals (The Lion King), North Shore MusicTheatre, Busch Gardens Entertainment, Lagoon Theme Park, Brigham Young University, and The Boston Conservatory.
